Q&A: An Exclusive interview with Yale Scott - Founder of Airplane Seet Cuvers

Updated: Aug 6, 2021

What inspired you to create Airplane Seet Cuvers?

I have always been grossed out by airplane seats. I always wonder how many people have sat there before me? I wanted to come up with a solution. In 2014, I created the Germ-Free Bee Airplane Seat Cover and Blanket. In 2017, I created the Disposable version, now called Seet Cuvers.

Can you tell us about your journey as an entrepreneur?

I have always been an entrepreneur at heart. I started a shoe shining business at the age of 6 and mowed lawns through college.

Have you faced any setbacks during your journey? What did you learn?

I have had a few setbacks. Every day I am learning something new. If I told you what I have learned, I might be giving away secrets.

How did your past experience in the White House help inspire your product?

I was blessed to travel a lot with my past job at The White House. I was usually on the Advance team so we traveled in advance of The President and/or First Lady so we flew commercial a lot, hence why I was always traveling getting grossed out by airplane seats. The experiences I had at The White House allowed me to have the courage to create a product with no background in merchandise, etc.

In the middle of a global pandemic, why is this product more important than ever?

More now than ever, when you travel it is important to protect yourself. We make no claims but we do create a barrier between you and your seat, giving you peace of mind.

Now, some questions about Airplane Seet Cuvers themselves:

Do they fit on every airline?

Yes, One size fits most - including most first class & business class seats.

What is the benefit of the disposable vs washable versions you offer?

It is your preference as a traveler. Some love the fabric version because it has wings that serve as a blanket so it allows you to not only protect yourself but also not have to rely on the plane blankets (which most airlines aren’t providing anymore). The disposable version is one and done use so if you are wanting to travel with less, this might be a better option.

Are you hoping to partner with an airline or continuing selling them yourself?

I plan to continue myself.

What is your dream for the future of Seet Cuvers?

I would love for us to be in every major Airport store and for a majority of passengers to be flying with us!

What advice do you have for anyone who wants to pursue a career in the travel industry?

If you have an idea, do it! Don’t let anyone try to tell you differently. You will have people that are negative and try to diminish your idea, but don’t let them!
