As summer is officially here, are you planning for your next trip? While there are many options to choose from — if you are thinking of a charming domestic destination by the water —look at Delray Beach in Florida.
Situated on the Florida coast, this beach town is a destination you can travel to by car or plane. The closest airports are Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International and Palm Beach International Airport. Keep your eye out for any celebrity sightings at the airport. Upon my flight back home, I was on the same flight departing Fort Lauderdale as Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello.
Delray Beach is home to several fashion designers, musicians, and artists. Did you know this year marked the 10th year of the Delray Beach Fashion Week? Last year, I explored several shops during Fashion Week downtown and in the iconic Pineapple Grove Arts District.
While in town, I met up with local business owners, artists, and fashion designers, including Amanda Perna, who founded The House of Perna. Perna's many talents are her vibrant and one-of-a-kind designed gowns, straw bags, and accessory designs. Perna also co-hosts a weekly show, Delray Morning Live, that airs every Wednesday on Facebook.
More places to see art in town include the Arts Garage, Arts Warehouse,
Spady Cultural Heritage Museum, or the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. Also, keep up-to-date with local hotels like the Opal Grand Resort, which had a Pop-Up Show with well-known artists like Carol Calicchio. Finally, for your food palate, this beach town has a variety of restaurants. From farm-to-table to fresh seafood cuisine, there's something for everyone, including vegetarians (like me). Some of my favorite places were Farmhouse Kitchen for lunch; afterward, I walked to the Purlife Cafe for a healthy dessert.
A glass of wine with the Veggie Flatbread at Farmhouse Kitchen. Taste a refreshing Açaí Bowl from the Purlife Cafe.
Whether you envision spending time at the beach or the pool, check out the Opal Grand Resort. This pet-friendly resort offers rooms, suites, and villas with exceptional views.
Here, you can relax, unwind, and enjoy more of your vacation.
Furthermore, you can enjoy the renovated resort's in-house dining options like Drift, and Beach Market Cafe, and don't miss a drink at Monkey Bar! An outdoor place for a bite is called the Cascades Poolside Bar & Grill. Before heading to the beach, I ordered the Veggie Quesadilla and the Beachside Cesar salad to go. The overall ambiance at the Opal Grand Resort was excellent, and the staff was always so welcoming. I loved relaxing in the main lobby during my stay. Just check out the chic decor and eye-catching chairs!
Next time you think of a Florida getaway, I hope you consider Delray Beach!
